The following is a new eWrestlingNews.com feature. The Top 10 Rankings. Each week, eWrestlingNews.com will post lists of top ten rankings for both WWE and TNA. First up this week are the top ten Superstars and/or Tag-Teams in TNA. We base the rankings off of week-to-week performances, and unfortunately, TNA storylines have a large say in where each individual or group is ranked. If they’re booked to lose, no matter how good they are, or how much you may like them, it’s going to affect their placement on the list. With that said, let’s take a look at this week’s Top 10 TNA Rankings.
#1. AJ Styles
He’s had his problems with management lately, and his status in the company is somewhat unknown from a storyline perspective at the moment. Either way, Styles is the current TNA World Heavyweight Champion right now, and has proven his status as the number one figure in the company with two wins over Bully Ray this week. Both main events. Both high-profile televised matches. Styles is the top dog this week.
#2. Bobby Roode
Bobby Roode has the “It Factor,” and has proven it with a big win over Kurt Angle, in Angle’s first high-profile match back, and on the biggest stage TNA has to offer. That alone shoots him up this week’s rankings. On Impact Wrestling, his feud with Angle was continued, so it looks like Roode will once again have the chance to prove he is among the best TNA has to offer these days.
#3. Magnus
You can’t name a true pro wrestling fan that doesn’t see star-potential all over Magnus right now. As far as in-ring activity, the Main Event Mafia member proved his worth at the top of the card by defeating TNA’s “Icon” and sole member of their Hall Of Fame, Sting, on their highest-profile event of the year, Bound For Glory. For these reasons, Magnus cracks this week’s top three.
#4. Bully Ray
He’s lost twice in his last two matches, so it’s hard to place Bully Ray this high on the list. However, he’s coming off a long-dominant reign as the TNA World Heavyweight Champion, the leader of the Aces & 8’s, and is without a doubt still one of the absolute best that TNA has to offer. Bully Ray lands in at number four this week.
#5. Chris Sabin
The old saying, “a win, is a win, is a win,” comes in handy when placing Chris Sabin at the bottom of the top five in this week’s top ten rankings. Sure, he needed the beautiful Velvet Sky as a distraction to walk away from Bound For Glory as the new X-Division Champion. However, “a win, is a win, is a win,” and Sabin wins the number five spot on our list this week because of it.
#6. Mr. Anderson
He has yet to prove anything inside the ring for TNA this week, but he did have a big factor in the biggest match on television for the company this week. Without Mr. Anderson, AJ Styles may not be the current TNA World Heavyweight Champion. It was Anderson’s interference that led to Styles walking out of Impact Wrestling with his belt in tact. Anyone who can have that big of an impact, pun intended, in one appearance, deserves a spot in the top ten.
#7. BroMans
Possibly the biggest douche-chill act in the company today, yet their track record this week speaks for itself. The BroMans came out of nowhere to capture the biggest tag-team prize in TNA at Bound For Glory by winning the pre-show Gauntlet Match, and later that night winning a second time to capture tag-team gold. For these reasons, the BroMans land at number seven on this week’s list.
#8. Ethan Carter III
He’s two-for-two this week, albeit against hand-picked tomato cans, but again I remind you, “a win, is a win, is a win.” EC3 has all of the tools to rise through the ranks in TNA in rapid-fashion, and he’s well on his way to doing just that in his first week as an active competitor. EC3 finds himself at number eight on this week’s top-ten list.
#9. Abyss
No official matches, but he’s caused a big stir in TNA this week. His mere presence cleared a ring full of top-level talent. At Bound For Glory, he tore through everyone in sight after returning when his alter-ego, Joseph Park, saw blood early in the night. “The Monster” is back everybody, and he’s at number nine in this week’s top ten.
#10. Kurt Angle
Sure, he’s lost his lone match since returning. The news came out today that Angle suffered a legitimate injury in his loss to Bobby Roode at Bound For Glory. It was a hard-fought battle, and Angle came up just short of winning his comeback effort. Angle turned down a Hall Of Fame induction offer from TNA, being the first to ever make such a claim. He kept his feud with Roode alive last Thursday, and is still the baddest son of a bitch in the company. Kurt Angle lands at the bottom of this week’s top ten.
