Business Insider has an article up by Claire Atkinson on the recent changes in WWE where they looked at Stephanie McMahon’s leave of absence. The article notes that McMahon’s leave of absence was “executed” by Vince McMahon. Stephanie stated that she left because she wanted to focus on her family.
The report also noted that WWE “took stronger control” of matters because they weren’t seeing the growth that they wanted under her as Executive Vice President and Head of Marketing.
Dave Meltzer discussed the situation on the F4W Online message board. He said her departure was “100% her choice” and that she had been discussing it with close friends ever since Triple H had his health issues.
Most people believe she will return in a new role. He did note that “key people in the company once she was gone did want to bury her on the way out.”
Meltzer noted that the development shocked a lot of people because the burial was starting from someone high in the structure of WWE. This person said that if they did it publicly, it would be career suicide but that it had already started and “the burial was going to come from the top.”
