According to a report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was a special committee that placed Stephanie McMahon in her new role as “interim” WWE Chairwoman and CEO. The committee includes the eight members of the Board of Directors that are also investigating Vince.
As for the committee, the names included are Steve Koonin (CEO of Atlanta Hawks & State Farm Arena), Ignace Lahoud (CEO of Majid Al Futtaim), Erika Nardini (CEO of Barstool Sports), Steve Pamon (President of Verzuz), Connor Schell (founder and CEO of Words + Pictures), Jeffrey Speed (former EVP and CFO of Six Flags) and Alan Wexler (SVP of Innovations and Growth for General Motors). It’s important to note that Stephanie, Vince, and Triple H had zero involvement in the decision making process.
While it was indeed Vince McMahon’s decision to step down, it came down to the board (mentioned above) to decide who was going to take Vince’s place, and they ultimately came to the decision that Stephanie was best suited for the role.
