As we previously reported here on eWn, Major League Wrestling (MLW) is set to crown new World Tag Team Champions at Azteca Lucha after the belts were vacated.
Davey Boy Smith and Tom Lawlor, the previous titleholders, were stripped of their belts after an injury angle was executed with Lawlor.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that the angle was initiated due to Lawlor’s scheduling conflict.
Lawlor had prior commitments with NJPW, which compelled him to miss several MLW events.
However, Lawlor is scheduled to make a comeback at ‘Battle Riot’ on June 1 in Atlanta, GA.
Additionally, on April 22, TJ Perkins filed to trademark the term “The Aswang,” which is his alter ego in NJPW. Aswang is a Filipino term for ghost or spirit.
