It’s well known that Paul Heyman announced WWE Champion Brock Lesnar was quitting SmackDown. The reason in storyline for that was due to Vince McMahon not giving Lesnar a shot at Rey Mysterio, who attacked Lesnar after he retained the title at Crown Jewel against Cain Velasquez.
Mysterio is a Raw talent and can’t appear on SmackDown despite the fact that he had been doing so since October 4th. Lesnar is scheduled for this Monday’s RAW where he will be featured going forward.
Dave Meltzer added some more details to the situation on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio where he noted that the announcement was supposed to be made on Tuesday’s premiere of WWE Backstage on FS1 at 11 pm ET but things changed after WWE talent and crew were delayed in Saudi Arabia, which led to the SmackDown script being changed.
Lesnar and Heyman weren’t originally scheduled for SmackDown. However, they were contacted since so few got out of the country on time.
