The following is from our play-by-play coverage of the WWENXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day event:
Men’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Finals Match: MSK (Wes Lee & Nash Carter) vs. The Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson & James Drake)
Drake and Gibson worked over Carter to begin the match. Lee hit an outside dive to take out the heels. Moments later, Carter caught Gibson with a big boot, but Drake took him out with a clothesline. Drake went for a hot tag, but Gibson had the referee get distracted with Lee and they hit an illegal tag team move to Carter. Lee finally got the hot tag and hit a series of dives. Lee went to the top rope, but Gibson took him out.
Carter hit Drake with a super kick then fired up with a series of strikes. Carter with a spring board cutter to Drake for a near fall. Gibson hit a powerslam before Drake connected with a dive off the top rope for a near fall. Lee rolled up Gibson for a near fall, but Drake broke it up. Lee with a reverse hurricanrana to Drake then Carter and Lee hit dives off the top rope to him for a near fall. The heels hit the Doomsday Device on the floor with Gibson going through the middle ropes with the clothesline. Drake hit a back breaker to Carter for 2. The babyfaces hit their finisher to Gibson for the victory.
Winners: MSK (Wes Lee & Nash Carter)
