WWE could take up to five hours to film a match inside their Performance Center during the early days of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
In March 2020, WWE moved their televised content to the PC without a live crowd in accordance with COVID-19 pandemic mandates.
While speaking on his Monday Mailbag forum, veteran referee Mike Chioda explained how WWE’s new-found ability to pause matches and record from different angles due to no live crowd being present made things difficult:
“During COVID when I was actually working a little bit, they said tapings at WWE for one match would take like three hours. Cut. Do this. Cut. Charles Robinson and some of the guys when I met up with them for dinner at WrestleMania, Chad Patton and them guys were telling me it took 2, 3, 4 hours to do one match because they had to cut so many times, splice it, and do this. It was a mess.”
