According to a new report, WWE is heading to India for a major event in January. The show is scheduled to take place on either January 18th or 19th, and will be held in the city of Hyderabad. There is no word yet on if the special will be televised.
Both Sportskeeda Wrestling and WrestleVotes have news about the report, which will include both Indian and international talent. Not long after WWE’s Clash at the Castle, Drew McIntyre toured India as part of a promotional tour for WWE. The Scottish Warrior campaigned for WWE’s return to the UK, which the company accommodated with September’s Clash at the Castle premium live event from Wales. McIntyre has been equally vocal in his support of WWE performing in India. He is said to be a lock for the event given his support. Furthermore, he’s also working on a Bollywood project.
Whether this event will be a sequel to last year’s “Superstar Spectacle” remains to be seen. The special was held at the Capitol Wrestling Center and broadcast in India on India’s Republic Day (January 26, 2021). The new event for 2023 also looks like it’s been set to be held close to Republic Day.
WWE has not yet announced the plans for the upcoming event.
