John Cena made a surprise return at the 2024 WWE Money In The Bank pay-per-view event to announce his forthcoming retirement from pro wrestling in 2025.

Cena declared that he plans to participate in WWE events throughout the year, aiming to wrestle 30-40 matches before bidding farewell.

While The Cenation Leader confirmed that the Royal Rumble 2025, Elimination Chamber 2025, and WrestleMania 41 will mark some of his final appearances, it’s important to note that his final match will not be at WrestleMania 41, as he intends to continue wrestling beyond that event.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that WWE is considering various potential opponents for Cena’s farewell matches, although nothing is set in stone yet.

The report states, “Nothing is for sure as far as opponents, and he’s discussing who he would like to work with. There is a tentative schedule, including major arenas and overseas dates.”

Cena’s recent appearances at WWE events, including a surprise appearance on the post-WrestleMania 40 episode of RAW and his involvement in the WrestleMania 40 main event (Night Two), have captivated the wrestling community.
