Meiko Satomura will retire in April 2025 on the 30th anniversary of her wrestling debut.

Fightful Select has shared an update on when WWE became aware of Satomura’s impending retirement.

Satomura’s last appearance on WWE TV was at NXT Roadblock in March 2023. Since then, she has not attended any NXT taping or coached at the WWE Performance Center.

While Satomura was recently part of WWE’s Japan tour and obtained permission from WWE to compete at Fortune Dream 9 in Tokyo in June, her absence from WWE TV has raised questions among NXT talent.

It is reported that only Satomura and higher-ups in WWE were aware of the reason for her absence from WWE TV, leading to speculation among NXT talent regarding her future with the company. There’s no word on her potential appearance on WWE TV in the future, and the likelihood of a WrestleMania 41 match is considered doubtful.

Satomura’s retirement announcement did not surprise the people in NXT, and her coaching work in NXT UK garnered praise from individuals in both NXT and NXT UK. However, some individuals in NXT expressed surprise at her relatively short tenure in the US branch of the NXT brand.

Sources in Japan anticipate that Satomura will focus on expanding her Sendai Girls promotion. In her announcement, Satomura declared her intention to compete for the brand in the coming months.

Finally, it was noted that Satomura’s future activities will primarily be based in Japan, with a potential return to the US being uncertain but not impossible.
