As we’ve been reporting here on eWn, Stephanie Vaquer has signed with WWE after parting ways with CMLL and NJPW.
Vaquer came to WWE’s attention after losing the NJPW Strong Women’s Title to Mercedes Mone at AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door 2024. She received positive feedback leading up to and following the match.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that WWE presented Vaquer with “a tremendous contract” on July 7, as they were aware of an offer from AEW.
Additionally, Vaquer may debut for WWE at the July 13th event at Arena Ciudad in Mexico City, with a likely start in NXT.
Multiple sources with knowledge of the situation mentioned that Vaquer’s decision not to seriously consider AEW was influenced by her childhood fandom of WWE and her desire to join the billion-dollar promotion. She previously had a tryout with WWE in 2018.
