There were a lot of last-minute changes made to the opening segment of this week’s episode of WWE SmackDown.
Pwinsider is reporting that the original plan was for Kevin Owens to deliver a promo in the opening segment that would lead to Drew McIntyre and Cody Rhodes getting involved. However, creative discussions caused multiple revisions, and the segment evolved as they looked for the best approach for all of the talent involved.
There was also consideration at one point for Jey Uso to be part of the segment. Instead, the creative team decided to go in a different direction.
Shawn Daivari was credited with producing the segment.
It is said that the creative rewrites took place until nearly 6:00 PM EST.
