Hulk Hogan’s appearance on the premiere episode of WWE RAW on Netflix was met with a negative reaction from the live crowd.
The segment, which was part of a promotion for his Real American Beer brand, featured the MAGA clan member and supporter of convicted felon Donald Trump being booed out of the building. This reaction became a significant talking point, which frustrated many people in WWE, especially since it came during a major show for the company.
Despite the boos, Hogan reportedly handled the situation with little issue. While he did express some “surprise and disappointment,” he brushed it off backstage. Hogan’s segment was kept short, reportedly due to his physical condition.
There were online suggestions that Hogan should have leaned into the negative reception by appearing as his nWo Hollywood Hogan persona. However, WWE sources told Fightful Select that the original plan was to focus on promoting the beer rather than getting Hogan over in any capacity, particularly given his age. One source said, “That certainly wouldn’t have been the original plan. We’re trying to sell beer, not get a 70 year old over any way we can.”
Some WWE sources even speculated that the company might consider using different legends or talents to endorse the beer brand in the future. However, WWE does not plan to end its partnership with Hogan’s brand, and he is still expected to make appearances at upcoming TV events. As of now, he’s slated to appear at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event later this month.
