Nia Jax has her next challenger for the WWE Women’s Championship as Bayley defeated Naomi in a No. 1 contender’s match on this week’s edition of Friday Night SmackDown to earn an opportunity for the title at WWE Bad Blood 2024.
This came about after last week’s tag team match, wherein if Naomi or Bayley would have won the match, they would have been declared the #1 contender; or, if either of them had gotten pinned or been made to submit, they would have been forced to leave SmackDown. Both Naomi and Bayley had pinned Jax at the same time, leading to SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis booking this follow-up singles match.
As straightforward as it could be, Bayley simply beat Naomi straight-up, with no other shenanigans involved. Naomi seemed upset afterward, which may end up being a noteworthy element going forward, but did not take any action we’d normally expect in this situation such as attacking Bayley and turning heel. She simply acknowledged Bayley as the rightful winner and walked off with an upset face.
Earlier in the night, prior to the match, Nia Jax chastised Tiffany Stratton for not being able to step in and stop the pinfall from last week. She then threatened Ms. Money in the Bank that “If this ends bad for me, this will end REALLY, REALLY bad for you.”
Should Naomi have played an Uno reverse card based on her ring gear? Is Bayley the right call to face Nia Jax at Bad Blood? How likely is it that Tiffany Stratton will be fed up with Jax and cash in her briefcase? Drop your thoughts and predictions in the comments below!
