During a recent appearance on “The Lame Guys” podcast, AEW wrestler Bobby Lashley addressed the backlash regarding his suggestion for a storyline involving GUNTHER in WWE.

During a previous interview, Lashley revealed that he had a pitch for a feud with GUNTHER that could have hinted at “racial tension” between them and “toed the line.”

Many fans responded negatively to this idea following Lashley’s comments during the interview, prompting a reaction from The All Mighty.

Lashley also discussed wanting his alliance with The Street Profits to end, as he aimed to elevate both Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins.

You can check out some highlights from the podcast below:

On getting heat for his comments on his GUNTHER idea: “I guess I took a little heat because some people were taking some of the things I said as, ‘He’s trying to do a racial thing.’ In the wrestling business, if you look at some of the groups that are formed, they are formed in an interesting way. That happens. It’s not so much a negative thing either way, it’s just how they are put together and formed. Certain groups, I think it would be interesting to see the dynamic of teams working together.”

On dirtsheets looking for online drama: “In our society right now, a lot of these groups butt heads anyway. Why do they butt heads? It can be for whatever reason. I think if you brought that to life and on TV, some of them can be fun. By all means, I am not racist towards any particular group. I don’t know why people ran with it. That’s one thing in the wrestling business, that is unfortunate, we do have these dirtsheets. Some are ran by companies and some are ran by guys in companies. It’s ridiculous and they try to look for things to pull out to get some clickbait and then they spew some drama online. For those people, just stay away from me. I’m just not that guy spreading it. There are some guys that want that out, and they sit and have beef and battles with each other.”

On his confidence: “For me, I’m very confident in what I am and what I can do and what I have going forward. I’m not that guy. They can stay offline and leave my interviews unheard. I’m not that guy to spew any hate. I didn’t like how it ran. Some people came to me and were like, ‘Ah man, that would have been cool.’ Others were like, ‘Ah man he….’ I saw one post, ‘Bobby really has CTE right now. He’s losing his mind.’ Is that where it’s gone?”

On The Street Profits: “Over at AEW, my career and where it is now, it’s really good for me. Could I or would I have hoped to stay with WWE? Absolutely. My plan was to have one more, maybe two years, and then retire with WWE. I was doing the stuff with the Street Profits. What I ultimately wanted at the end of that is, when I go out, there are certain things I wanted to do. I wanted Dawkins and or Montez to turn on me, and I wanted to have a feud with one and then the other and eventually have both of them take me out at the end. Both of them are amazingly talented. I ultimately wanted to get beat.”

“There are three or four people that I wanted to go out (against). I wanted every one of them to have a good feud with me and I wanted to put all of them over. It was definitely Dawkins, Montez, Austin Theory, I wanted to turn him babyface, and I never had the opportunity to do something with LA Knight. He and I were good friends in IMPACT and coming over, we had several talks about him coming up and what he was going to do. That would have been a cool one. Outside of that, I had no ego with it, I wanted to go out in the right way. That just didn’t happen.”
