Booker T has revealed what he and CM Punk talked about after a so-called run-in between the two took place at WWE NXT earlier this year.

Booker T claimed back in February that he and Punk “almost got into it” at a taping, raising questions as to whether Punk’s run in WWE would end like his AEW tenure.

The two-time Hall of Famer later admitted that his insinuation of an altercation with Punk was “clickbait and that he was “just playing around.”

On a recent edition of his “Hall of Fame” podcast, Booker T discussed CM Punk being at this week’s NXT TV tapings and what the pair talked about. He said,

“We had words. The thing is, it was refreshing. Let’s just say that. I know people were tripping when they saw that. The thing is, CM Punk and I never really had any beef. We really never did. I know people really thought that when he was in AEW, but I don’t think CM Punk and I ever really had any beef. Did I say some things about CM Punk, specifically when he was in the UFC? Yeah, I did, but I don’t think I said anything derogatory or mean spirited towards CM Punk at all?

“Even when he was in AEW, just like say for instance when he made his debut. I said the promo didn’t hit me properly. I said he could’ve did a little bit something, and that’s just constructive criticism. That’s not a knock or anything on CM Punk or anything like that.”

Booker T went on to say that both he and Punk are too old to be thinking about ‘beef’ and recalled making small talk with Punk during a recent flight.

Punk will return to WWE NXT for the October 1st premiere episode on The CW Network where he will officiate the NXT Title match between Ethan Page and Trick Williams.

Days after appearing on WWE NXT’s premiere on The CW, Punk will compete inside Hell in a Cell against Drew McIntyre at WWE Bad Blood 2024.
