While the details are sketchy at this time, it appears that an assassination attempt on WWE Hall of Famer and convicted felon Donald Trump took place at his rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday.
Just minutes after the rally began over an hour late as people waited outside in sweltering heat all day with multiple medical episodes being reported, gunshots rang out and it was clear that the former President of the United States had been struck in the ear. The crowd ducked, as did Trump, as the Secret Service immediately rushed in.
The Trump campaign released a statement to announce that he’s been taken to a local hospital and will be okay. The injuries were not life threatening and he has since been discharged.
Butler County district attorney Richard Goldinger said in a statement that one audience member was killed at the rally and that the shooter is dead. Two others are in critical condition.
As you’d expect, the rally was cancelled and everyone was escorted out.
It is said that the shooter fired around eight rounds from the top of a roof using an AK-47 rifle – nearly 300 yards away from where the conman was speaking. The shooter was reportedly taken out by the Secret Service sniper team.
