Buff Bagwell isn’t sure why he ever stepped foot in a WWE ring, over 20 years after he was swiftly fired after a showdown with Booker T on RAW.

Bagwell and Booker T competed over the WCW World Championship in the main event of the July 2, 2001 episode of WWE RAW with Booker coming out on top.

The match is considered one of the worst main events in RAW history, and Bagwell was let go from the company shortly after.

On a recent appearance on “The Wrestling Chatter” podcast, Buff Bagwell discussed the match and his subsequent exit. He said,

“Why did we even do that match in Tacoma? You put Booker T and Buff Bagwell in Atlanta, Georgia, and it’s going to be a totally different outcome, brother. I was told I was released and, ‘We would bring you back in three months’ and I believed them, and in three months when I called back, they acted like they didn’t know who I was.”

It’s been claimed for years that Bagwell had heat quickly in WWE, with his mother reportedly ringing HQ to demand he have time off.

During the podcast, Bagwell also spoke about his Dark Side of the Ring episode. Click here to check out what Buff had to say.
