WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray was no fan of the opening segment on this week’s episode of RAW that featured CM Punk, Seth Rollins, and Drew McIntyre.
The segment in question saw Rollins make clear that he will call the SummerSlam 2024 match between Punk and McIntyre how he sees fit.
On a recent edition of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, Bully Ray shared why the segment didn’t work for him. He said,
“It was annoying as f*** listening to those three grown men bicker. ‘Bap, bap, bap, bap. I hate you. No, I hate you. No this, no that.’ Oh, shut the f*** up already and fight. But that’s the problem with the segment.”
The problem, as Ray sees it, is that Punk and McIntyre were banned from touching each other or Rollins, which Bully feels killed any potential interest. He said,
“You have immediately taken the wind out of my sails [with Rollins’ warning] as a fan. You have now told me I have no reason to get excited or amped up because I might get an opening show brawl, pull-apart fight, a DDT, something. Nothing is going to happen, because if something does happen, the match is called off and we know the match is not going to be called off for SummerSlam. So basically, you’ve told me as a fan, you told me, sit down, shut up and listen to our verbiage.”
The SummerSlam 2024 match will be Punk’s first since suffering a torn triceps injury during the Men’s Royal Rumble match, an injury McIntyre has taken credit for.
