The New Day’s heel turn works because Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods feel entirely justified in what they’ve done, according to Bully Ray.
Earlier this month, Kingston and Woods turned on Big E, arguing that if he cared about them, he would’ve returned from his neck injury.
On a recent edition of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, Bully Ray explained how heels who feel justified are a recipe for success. He said,
“The New Day are making it seem like Big E’s broken neck is not that big of a deal and should not have stopped him from calling them and getting in touch with them.
“‘Stone Cold [Steve Austin] broke his neck and he came back. Edge broke his neck and he came back. Kurt Angle broke his neck and he came back. Why couldn’t you? Are you too good? Are you too good for The New Day now because you’re a suit?’
“In their minds, they’re completely justified. That is what generates the disdain.”
On this week’s episode of WWE RAW, Kingston and Woods struggled to justify their actions due to the negative reaction from the crowd in Wichita, KS.
Big E has been out of action since March of 2022 due to his neck injury. He has remained with WWE in several non in-ring roles.
