Cody Rhodes’ striking neck tattoo of his American Nightmare insignia is rather ridiculous, according to the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion himself.
The tattoo made its debut at AEW Revolution 2020 ahead of Rhodes’ match with former ally MJF and has spawned comments and memes ever since.
During a recent appearance on the “Sneaker Shopping” podcast, Rhodes acknowledged that his ink may not be to everybody’s taste. He said,
“Have you seen the tattoo on the side of my neck? I’m all about making unique, polarizing decisions, and wearing something like that, I’m all about it. It’s ridiculous, but also, I think people might assume, ‘Oh, Georgia, [neck tattoo] this has gotta’ be some conservative lunatic.’ No, I’m just a pro-America person. We’re a mess, no doubt, but I’m pro the optimism, pro the hope. Don’t worry about America, this [shoe] is America. It’s all right here, don’t worry about it, we’re going to be fine. We got good shoes.”
Brandi Rhodes, Cody’s wife has admitted that she did not like the tattoo when it was introduced but she has since gotten used to the ink.
Cody Rhodes is in his first reign as Undisputed WWE Universal Champion after capturing the title at WrestleMania 40 with a win over Roman Reigns.
Rhodes will defend his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship this weekend at SummerSlam 2024 against Solo Sikoa, who has replaced Reigns as the faction’s leader.
