Cody Rhodes has shared the ring with plenty of opponents, but one enemy pushed the American Nightmare into a fight more than any other.
On a recent edition of the “2 Bears, 1 Cave” podcast, Rhodes shared that facing Brock Lesnar is the closest he’s come to a fight in the ring. He said,
“The three matches I had with Brock Lesnar are the most competitive. And there’s a thing when you work with a guy who’s a big monster. ‘Where they’ll make you earn it,’ is what they’ll say. You’re not just grabbing my leg, even though that might be the spot. You’re not just hitting me with that, the Cody Cutter.
“It’s not just happening that way. You have to actually earn it. And earn it is as close to it being in a real fight as I’ve ever been in my life. I look back at the three matches with Brock, lovingly and so proud of the body of work we put up.”
Lesnar and Rhodes first locked horns at WWE Backlash 2023, where Cody won before Lesnar got his win back at Night Of Champions.
Rhodes defeated Lesnar at SummerSlam 2023, in Brock’s most recent match with WWE to date. Lesnar was pulled from all WWE plans earlier this year.
Rhodes on the other hand has been a fixture of WWE TV since their feud and will face Kevin Owens in a ladder match at next month’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view event.
Cody recently shared when he plans on ending his full-time career in the ring. Click here to find out when Rhodes plans to hang up his boots.
