Cody Rhodes suffered an injury during the most recent episode of WWE SmackDown which marked the debut of ex-MLW Champion Jacob Fatu.
Fatu attacked Rhodes, Randy Orton, and Kevin Owens in the closing moments of SmackDown and hit a splash on Rhodes through a table.
Appearing at a WWE live event on Saturday night, Rhodes disclosed that he suffered two broken ribs during the attack but will preserve through the injury. He said,
“The loyal WWE fans saw what happened on SmackDown. So, before you hear from anybody else, a little scoop for you Bloomington. Last night I did break two of my ribs.
“The thought [backstage] was ‘Well, you can take off Bloomington, you can take off Kalamazoo. You can even take off next Friday where the story began in 1978, New York City’ And my answer to that was emphatically, 100% ‘Hell No!'”
It has been reported that WWE’s plan is for Rhodes to defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against Solo Sikoa at WWE SummerSlam 2024.
