As we previously reported here on eWn, WWE has partnered with the Indiana Sports Corporation to bring its three major stadium events — WrestleMania, SummerSlam, and the Royal Rumble — to Indianapolis.

Lucas Oil Stadium will host the Royal Rumble on February 1, 2025, marking the beginning of this collaboration. In the future, the stadium will also host a two-night SummerSlam and two-night WrestleMania.

Throughout this partnership, WWE plans to bring RAW, SmackDown, NXT, and other live events to various arenas across Indiana, including Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, and Evansville, on event weekends. The decision to schedule the Royal Rumble for February was a significant one of discussion.

According to reports from WrestleVotes and Fightful, the decision to avoid conflicts with the Super Bowl weekend and NFL playoffs played a crucial role in the scheduling, resulting in the event being moved back a week from its usual timeline. However, it remains to be seen whether the Royal Rumble will continue to be held in February.

The report also hints at a potential expansion of the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event, mirroring the format of WrestleMania. Since 2020, WWE has presented WrestleMania as a two-night show, and the Royal Rumble may follow suit.

Additionally, sources within WWE have highlighted the benefits of hosting events in Indianapolis, including the city’s accessibility, proximity to other major cities, and an indoor stadium.
