#DIY have reached their ‘endgame’ after capturing the WWE Tag Team Championships on the July 5, edition of WWE SmackDown.
The duo of Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano won the gold from A-Town Down Under in the main event in Toronto, the same place they won the WWE NXT Tag Team Titles.
In a WWE ‘Digital Exclusive’ after the show, Johnny Gargano was pleased to have won gold again in the Canadian city. He said,
“Toronto, we did it. Lightning struck twice, and we are the lighting bolt that this tag team division needs… Obviously, winning the NXT Tag Team Titles was huge for us. It made our careers, but this was always the endgame for us. Getting here, winning these titles. Two guys who were never even supposed to work for this company now hold WWE gold.”
Ciampa was also pleased that he would be able to celebrate this title win with his family. He said,
“These are the prettiest titles in all of the WWE, and [brings title close to his head] she just told me that she can’t wait to get home and meet [daughter] Willow, and Willow can’t wait to meet her, and I’m sure [Gargano’s son] Quill can’t wait to meet her.”
A-Town Down Under had held the titles since WrestleMania 40 when they captured the SmackDown Tag Team Titles in a six-team ladder match.
