Drew McIntyre recently took a photo with AEW star Jack Perry to escalate his rivalry with CM Punk in WWE.

Punk and Perry have a nasty backstory. The two had an altercation at AEW All In London 2023 that led to Perry’s suspension and Punk’s departure after the former AEW World Champion cautioned The Scapegoat against using real glass for a TV segment.

During his All In 2023 match, Perry did a spot on a car windshield and referred to the glass on camera, saying, “Real glass, cry me a river,” which led to the physical confrontation backstage.

Earlier this year on Dynamite, AEW broadcasted the footage after Punk elaborated on the incident while appearing on “The MMA Hour” podcast.

On a recent edition of the “Insight” podcast, McIntyre spoke about his photo with Perry. He said,

“No (whether he saw him at Comic-Con), I was flying to LA, and they just did a show the night before. I seen Roderick Strong at the airport, a buddy of mine, and we got to catch up. He was hitting an ROH show, I believe. And then on the flight, just seen Jack. Had a little chat with him and his missus. And then we snapped a picture, and the internet had a freaking meltdown. It was hilarious. I think it lasted 45 minutes. And then the numbers I heard were 2 million impressions or something insane for 45 minutes. It was pretty wild. People enjoyed that immensely. So yeah, I’m always dancing on that line of what’s acceptable, not acceptable. Make people question things.”

As to whether he crossed the line, McIntyre said, “It’s probably back of 100 yards. That’s where I live. And yeah, I just do what was fun, and then, did someone tell me? Didn’t someone tell me? Was it by design? Did I choose to remove it? I’ll never answer that question because I love people asking questions.”

Punk defeated McIntyre in a Strap Match this past weekend at WWE Bash In Berlin 2024.
