Former WWE Superstar Enzo Amore has shared a heartfelt story of Bray Wyatt, a year after the former WWE World Champion’s untimely passing.
This week marks one year since Wyatt, real name Windham Rotunda, passed away at the age of 36. Tributes from various promotions were shared following his death.
On Instagram, Amore reflected on his friend and recalled a time when he was pulled over while driving by a police officer who happened to be a Wyatt fan. He wrote,
“The first time I ever hit the road in the WWE, Windham asked me if I wanted to ride wit em. Of course I wanted to. Windham was hilarious. We drove across the state of Texas, and sure enough we got pulled over. When the cop looked in the car he had no idea who we were… but lucky for us he did know who Bray Wyatt was. He said: “Sir… I’m a huge fan. Do you mind if we take a photo?
Windham put me under his wing, from FCW to my first road loop in WWE. I can never thank him enough.
A father, a son, brother, a husband, a good man… and my friend. I always thought I’d see em again.
Can’t believe it’s been a year you been gone hoot ….
Miss ya briz.
Thanks for getting us out of that ticket.
See ya down the road”
Wyatt was released from WWE in July 2021 but rehired the following year. His much-anticipated return came as part of WWE Extreme Rules in October 2022.
Wyatt’s final bout saw him defeat LA Knight in the Pitch Black match at Royal Rumble 2023. Since his death, fans have called for a WWE Hall of Fame induction.
