Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is slated to portray Mark Kerr, a two-time UFC Heavyweight Champion, in “The Smashing Machine.”
The film will be written and directed by “Uncut Gems” director Benny Safdie. A24 will be financing the project, the same studio that made “The Iron Claw” about the Von Erich family.
Kerr earned the nickname “The Smashing Machine” because of his style inside the Octagon. The Rock will portray Kerr, while Emily Blunt will portray Kerr’s wife, Dawn Staples.
The film is scheduled to undergo a three-month production period, starting on May 1, 2024, and ending on August 1, 2024. Filming will occur at various locations, including Los Angeles, New Mexico, Tokyo, and Vancouver.
