WWE Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER will join an exclusive club at WrestleMania 40 when he puts the championship on the line against Sami Zayn.
Zayn earned the match by winning a gauntlet match on RAW but scored a controversial victory over Chad Gable in the process.
At WrestleMania 40, GUNTHER will become the fourth Superstar in history to defend the Intercontinental Championship at consecutive WrestleManias.
‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage was the first man to do this with WrestleMania 2 and 3 while The Ultimate Warrior did the same with WrestleMania 5 and 6.
The Rock became the third man to do so when he defended the gold at WrestleMania 13 against The Sultan and at WrestleMania 14 against Ken Shamrock.
GUNTHER will become the second-ever Superstar to defend the title at consecutive WrestleManias under the same reign. Randy Savage is the other.
