WWE Hall of Famer JBL would love to see John Cena capture his 17th World Title before the WWE icon ends his in-ring career in 2025.
Cena shared at WWE Money in the Bank 2024 that he will retire next year and will embark on a retirement tour with multiple matches.
On a recent edition of the “Something To Wrestle” podcast, JBL spoke about Cena’s impending farewell and what he hopes to see. He said,
“Cena, I love the guy. I hope he gets the seventeenth championship. I think it be cool to see that broken. I think it will be historic and fun. I just hate that he’s retiring. I’m going to love every second of it, I don’t want to pour cold water on it, but I always wish guys like that were with us forever.
“And he will be with us forever, he just won’t be in an active role. And he might always do stuff down the line, but as far as in-ring competition, regular stuff, he’s retiring. It’s kind of cool; what an incredible career.”
Cena is a 16-time WWE World Champion, with his first win coming at WrestleMania 21 in April 2005 by dethroning JBL.
John Cena has been confirmed for RAW’s debut on Netflix on January 6, the Royal Rumble in February, and he is being promoted for March’s Elimination Chamber pay-per-view event.
