Jesse Ventura returned to WWE television during Saturday Night’s Main Event XXXVII, providing commentary for the show.
During a recent appearance on “The Bill Simmons Podcast,” Ventura discussed the importance of his WWE return.
Ventura said, “Hell has frozen over because I never dreamed I would be back in the WWE — now WWF — until hell froze over. I had a friend Glenn Fry of the Eagles and I remember when the Eagles broke up they thought, ‘Oh it’s over. We’ll never hear another Eagle song, the differences are too much, they’ll never be able to mend fences.’ And lo and behold, Glenn got together and a way with Don Henley and a way they go, they came back.”
He continued, “I never believed in my wildest dreams I would be back doing wrestling again…for me it’s a full circle of my career, I can’t go back in the United States Navy where I spent my first six years…I can’t do that because there’s age limits.”
Triple H believes that it is now simpler for WWE Superstars to participate in film and television projects as wrestling has become more widely “accepted.”
During a recent appearance on “The Roommates Show,” the WWE CCO discussed how wrestling is increasingly embraced by mainstream viewers, facilitating opportunities for Superstars to engage in external projects.
Triple H said, “Wrestling is accepted now. If somebody goes and does a movie or TV film, it’s so accepted to where it’s not, ‘What’s this wrestler doing in this movie?’ Now, they can sort of fit in and people are more accepted of it.”
He continued, “I think over the years, you’ll see some of that. Guys like Roman Reigns, and some of our women too. Rhea Ripley or people like that. Especially with action movies and the superhero genre, if Rhea Ripley is not a superhero, I’m not sure who is. Bianca Belair is another. Jade Cargill. If they’re not superheroes, what is?”
