Kelani Jordan has shared some details of her first meeting with boyfriend Carmelo Hayes, and time seemingly stood still when the pair first met.
In a recent appearance on “The Wrestling Classic” podcast, Jordan said that Hayes made the first move and recalled meeting the former WWE NXT World Champion. She said,
“Mr. Carmelo Hayes [made the first move.] So we were at the Performance Center. I was maybe a few months in, and then when we met, we walked by each other and it was almost like—this might sound cheesy, but let it sound cheesy; we’re here for the cheese—it felt like time stood still.
“We were just shaking hands; I was greeting everyone because I was very new and going around shaking everyone’s hands. But in that moment, it felt like time stood still and we both just stared at each other. Then we walked away, and I was like, ‘Okay, maybe it was me.’ I started getting anxious, thinking, ‘Oh my gosh.’
“Anyway, apparently, he told one of our coaches, ‘Wow, that girl is so beautiful,’ but I didn’t know that at the time. Eventually, time passed, and he ended up messaging me, and that was it. We went and got some tacos.”
While the pair met in WWE NXT, Hayes has since moved to the main roster and was drafted to WWE SmackDown earlier this year.
Jordan has since gone on to make history as the first-ever WWE NXT North American Women’s Champion, a title she won at NXT Battleground in a ladder match.
