After dethroning Logan Paul at WWE SummerSlam 2024 in Cleveland, Ohio to win the United States Championship, LA Knight cut a promo on the August 9th episode of SmackDown about the win.
This was interrupted by Santos Escobar and Legado del Fantasma, who badmouthed Knight as an unworthy champion and ragged on his catch phrases. This was to hype himself up as the next challenger for the United States title, but he would have to beat Andrade in a No. 1 contender’s match to get that right.
Immediately following, Escobar and El Idolo faced off, with Escobar coming out on top through some nefarious means (via Carmelo Hayes interfering to screw over Andrade) to secure himself that title opportunity.

The upcoming Escobar vs. Knight match for the United States Championship has yet to be formally announced for a specific date. However, WWE Bash in Berlin is right around the corner, so we can assume they’ll either clash at that premium live event or a future edition of Friday Night SmackDown likely that same week.
Andrade will also undoubtedly be seeking revenge against Hayes, but a match between the two has also yet to be clarified.
