WWE once had plans for Vickie Guerrero to win the WWE Women’s Championship, according to Guerrero’s former on-screen ally Layla El.

In WWE, Guerrero briefly served as the manager for LayCool, the tag team that consisted of Layla and Michelle McCool.

On a recent edition of the “Heated Shenanigans” podcast, Layla shared that her title win in 2010 over Beth Phoenix was a surprise to her. She said,

“It was a dream of mine. I always dreamed about it. I thought, ‘Yeah, I could do it,’ but then, in the back of my head, I’m like, ‘Yeah, you’re not going to do it. There’s no way. You ain’t got a chance.’ The actual plan was to give the title to Vickie. They were going to give the title to Vickie because Beth was injured. So, that whole day, that’s how we were planning.”

While Guerrero never held gold, she did win the title of ‘Miss WrestleMania’ in 2009, taking the sash and crown from ‘Santina Marella.’

Layla finished her time with WWE in 2015 with the final match of her career coming in July of that year where she lost to Paige (now Saraya.)

Guerrero finished her time with AEW last year. She faced controversy for comments at her daughter Shaul after she alleged she was sexually assaulted by Vickie’s husband.

During the interview, Layla also discussed what a potential return to WWE would look like. Click here to find out more.
