WWE Superstar Michin has explained why she transitioned away from using her real name of Mia Yim in favor of her current on-screen moniker.
Though originally known by the Yim name, Michin has been wrestling under her current name since being rehired by WWE in 2022.
On a recent edition of the “Wrestling Classic” podcast, Michin explained the reasoning behind the name change. She said,
“When I came back and joined them, they [The O.C.] said, ‘You need a nickname; that’s just part of the crew.’ Michin is something I’ve had since I was a kid, from my mom. She would call me and my sister crazy, obviously. So to me, it was my choice picking this name.”
Michin added that using her current name helps her represent Korea in the global wrestling market. The term is Korean for ‘crazy.’
Michin recently came up short in her quest to be the first Women’s U.S. Champion but has another title in her sights. Click here to find out more.
