During a recent appearance on the “Insight” podcast, Mustafa Ali reflected on the notorious RETRIBUTION storyline and the faction’s downfall.
Ali said, “Did I know it was going to fail? I know we had our work cut out for us. I know the names weren’t pleasant, the masks weren’t pleasant, and it was kind of even more frustrating because there were so many talented individuals underneath these things.”
He continued, “I had tried to save RETRIBUTION and Vince approved it at first but it just never made air. RETRIBUTION failed because there wasn’t a why, there was never a why, Vince lost interest in it, not my story to tell. There was a power struggle between people and RETRIBUTION was affected because of that.”
Chris Jericho has named Dave Bautista (Batista) as his top pick for wrestlers who have successfully transitioned to Hollywood.
During a recent appearance on the “Maggie & Perloff Show,” Jericho was asked to share his thoughts on the best wrestler-turned-actor.
Jericho said, “Right now, there are a lot of guys making some pretty big films and movies between Dwayne Johnson and John Cena. But I think Dave Bautista has done a great job of picking a variety and diverse collection of roles. I would say Dave is probably my favorite out of all of them.”
Bautista has had a standout year in 2024, featuring in films like Dune: Part Two, My Spy: The Eternal City, The Killer’s Game, and The Last Showgirl. Both Dune and The Last Showgirl are generating buzz for award nominations; Dune is expected to be a contender for Best Picture, while The Last Showgirl has garnered a Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama nomination for its star, Pamela Anderson.
