When people tell you to break a leg, they don’t actually mean it. But that’s been the situation with WWE Superstar Saquon Shugars as of late.

Formerly known as Lucky Ali, Shugars made his debut for NXT at a live event on February 10, 2024. He wrestled three more matches — two on other live events and one on NXT Level Up on March 19th against Tavion Heights — before suffering an injury.

Over the past few months, Shugars has posted on social media about his broken knee, poking fun at it, calling himself Unlucky Ali and trying to find random rides to NXT shows and Performance Center training.

Today, Shugars actually put up a GoFundMe link titled “Get Shugars back on his feet :(“, saying Shawn Michaels and Matt Bloom won’t let him work due to his broken knee.

The GoFundMe page information reads as follows:

Hi, my name is Saquon Sugars and my knee broke off in my first match for the fed.

I cant sell merch no more bc I signed dat 360 deal. Dey prolly finna make toys for me wen i come back but mr. atrain wont let me work bc of my kneecap. That’s why I need y’all money. Just whatever y’all can give. My Cashapp $SaquonOffWwe if u get confused w da button.

I kno u dont mind breaking off a lil bit for your boy. After everything i did for yall. Remember that time in VA where my tire blew onna 10 hour drive to czw, and dj hyde said find a spare bc i was the main. AND shawty from Sheetz stayed in VA so I rl coulda stayed w her and I STILL came to y’all lil town?

At the time of this posting, John Cena donated $300, three anonymous donations amounted to $39 more, and Jakara Jackson donated $65 with a message of “We miss u boo !!”

However, it seems this was still just another joke, as Shugars disabled new donations to the fundraiser.
