AJ Lee (April Mendez) began her WWE career in 2009 in Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW) and later NXT before transitioning to the main roster in 2011.
During her tenure on the main roster, Lee achieved considerable success, winning the Divas Championship three times and maintaining a record-setting title reign of 406 days. She left WWE in 2015 and retired due to health issues.
For years, fans have been speculating whether Lee will ever return to WWE.
As we previously reported here on eWn, WWE is willing to welcome Lee back and leaves the decision up to the former Divas Champion.
During a recent interview with TV Insider, Cora Jade revealed that she and NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez are trying to convince Punk to talk Lee into a return.
Jade said, “I don’t know. I hope so. I’m working on it. Me and Roxy are always badgering [Punk] about it. I know he is doing it to her as well, so we’ll see. If it happens, you’ll have to thank me.”
Following her departure from WWE, Lee pursued other ventures, including working on comic books and authoring a biography in 2017. She also played a role in the relaunch of the WOW – Women Of Wrestling promotion.
