During a recent appearance on Logan Paul’s “Impaulsive” podcast, Paul Heyman recalled the unforgettable moment when he sang John Cena’s entrance theme and the reaction the 16-time World Champion had to it backstage.

You can check out some highlights from the podcast below:

On the moment where he sang out John Cena’s theme music: “The funny thing is, and I love John Cena, I went up to John and I said, ‘I expect you to tear into us.’ He goes, ‘That’s a good expectation.’ I said, ‘Would you like to know my retort?’ ‘No.’ ‘My retort is a little unconventional.’ He goes, ‘Great. I’ll react to it naturally out there.’ I said, ‘You sure you don’t want to know this?’ ‘Nope. You can’t see me and I can’t hear you right now,’ and he walked away.”

On how Cena reacted to the moment: “He dug into us and dug into us, and I’m just like [mocks Cena’s theme] and I walk away. He comes to the back and he’s laughing his a*s off, tearing up. Reaction-wise, because he’s so great, he reacted perfectly to it.”

On his introduction paying tribute to his father: “Well the ladies and gentlemen comes from my father introducing himself to a jury, but also comes from news conferences. ‘Ladies and gentlemen my name is detective this guy and this is the crime that I’ve been in charge of investigating.’ So it’s always, ladies and gentlemen my name is, so I always thought, well okay, if I’m going to do public speaking, I should always assume that nobody knows who I am and this is the first time.”

On what he would say as Brock Lesnar’s advocate: “When I was Brock’s advocate, that was a tribute to my father because my father would press and press and a judge would finally say, calm down, calm down. My father would say, your honor, I’m just an advocate.”
