The news about WWE WrestleMania 42 possibly coming to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania created a stir on the internet on Saturday morning.

During a Twitter Q&A video, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro mentioned that Philadelphia would host WrestleMania 42 in 2026, along with other events scheduled for the city in 2026.

Philadelphia hosted WWE’s WrestleMania 40 earlier this year at Lincoln Financial Field.

Additionally, WrestleMania 41 in 2025 is confirmed for Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, and a future WrestleMania is planned for Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.

It was later reported that WWE has not internally discussed the 2026 location, and a reliable source involved in the event’s planning mentioned that no location has been confirmed yet. Moreover, WWE officials were surprised by the Governor’s comments.

There are speculations that Governor Shapiro might have misspoken when referring to WWE and WrestleMania 42, though this couldn’t be verified.

Fightful is reporting that the Governor’s Office issued an apology, clarifying that their previous statement about WrestleMania 2026 being held in Philadelphia was an error.

The report states, ”The Governor’s office has reached out to Fightful saying that their comment today indicating WrestleMania 2026 to Philly was a mistake: “This statement was mistaken, and we apologize for the confusion amid all the incredible events Pennsylvania is excited to host in 2026. While WrestleMania won’t be here in ‘26, we look forward to continuing to work with WWE and wrestling fans all across our Commonwealth to bring more great events to PA in the future.” Comment from Manuel Bonder, Spokesman for Governor Shapiro.”

It remains to be seen when WWE will officially announce the location for WrestleMania 42.
