On the December 16, 2024 episode of WWE RAW, The War Raiders (Erik and Ivar) defeated Finn Balor and JD McDonagh to capture the WWE World Tag Team Championships.
While speaking with Denise Salcedo for “Instinct Culture,” The War Raiders commented on what fans can expect from their reign. Erik said,
“More of the same. I mean, there are no secrets to the War Raiders. We are straight ahead. What you see is what you get. It’s aggression, it’s athleticism, it’s violence. We see the same team, we are dominant, and we’re coming straight ahead. This is who we are. There are no secrets, we don’t make any secret plans or try to hide behind anything or be anything that we’re not. So it’s stop us if you can.”
During a recent appearance on the “Insight with Chris Van Vliet” podcast, R-Truth recalled spoofing his “childhood hero” John Cena.

On seeking Cena’s approval for the spoof: “No, they actually had it written out and I was like, ‘Oh, this is funny.’ But I did text John and asked him about dressing like him and I got the ‘Haha,’ the laugh emoji. [Cena said] ‘I think it’s great, I think it’s great. Run with it.’ So I just become my childhood hero with his blessings.”
On Cena giving him permission to copy everything: “Yes, everything. Even to wear the shorts. He said, ‘Truth, you don’t have to ask me to wear shorts in the ring.’ I said, ‘Man, but I want to be you. I want to do everything you do — walk, talk. I’m saying, how do you hold your head to the side. I want to do everything, I want to be you.’ He said, ‘Run with it.’”
