Raj Dhesi – ‘Vince McMahon Trusted Me, I Was Always On The Show’

Raj Dhesi will always appreciate the trust shown to him by Vince McMahon, a trust that saw the former Jinder Mahal win the WWE Championship.

Dhesi, who competed in WWE under the Mahal name, captured the gold at Backlash 2017 in a shocking move considering his previous years as a ‘jobber.’

On a recent edition of the “Talk Is Jericho” podcast, Dhesi spoke about McMahon and what it meant to have the billionaire’s trust. He said,

“Relationship-wise, confidence-wise, trust-wise, trust is a big thing with Vince. He really trusted me a lot after that (being WWE Champion) in any situation, not just like main events, but also in anything he would put me in, like some comedy skits, you know, the 24/7 championship with R-Truth. I won the United States Championship at WrestleMania 34. That was a cool moment. With Vince, I was always on the show. I might not be in a top spot, I might be putting someone over, but I was always on all the time. I was on Live Events year round. I was booked a lot when Vince was in charge.”

Dhesi was released from WWE in April 2024, mere months after McMahon stepped away from the promotion, seemingly for good, in January.

Dhesi has since returned to the indies, where he has won gold. At AAA TripleMania, he and Satnam Singh won the promotion’s Tag Team Championships.
