WWE Bad Blood 2024 didn’t quite go down as Rhea Ripley anticipated, as she was victorious over Liv Morgan, but failed to capture the WWE Women’s World Championship.
This is because even with Dominik Mysterio hanging from a shark cage, Morgan still had backup to come out and help her in a returning Raquel Rodriguez.
The Eradicator had the match mostly won, but decided to take advantage of a dangling Mysterio, who had broken his way out of the shark cage, but got his foot tangled. That vulnerability made him open to becoming a piñata for Ripley to attack with a kendo stick.
Failing to use that time to just pin Morgan and win the WWE Women’s World Championship, Ripley was eventually attacked by Rodriguez, who has her history with both Ripley and Morgan. Rodriguez and Ripley had a long-standing friendship in NXT that devolved into a feud as the two fought at WWE Payback 2023, wherein Ripley retained the Women’s World Title.
This was after Ripley had cost both Rodriguez and Morgan their tag team titles in July 2023, which will undoubtedly be used to explain the connection of why Rodriguez would help Morgan get some revenge on Ripley.
Rodriguez, who hasn’t been in active competition since February, is returning after being on the shelf following her diagnosis with mast cell activation syndrome.
