Damon Kemp (Bobby Steveson), the brother of Gable Steveson, announced his departure from WWE earlier this week. This came as a surprise, as Kemp had signed with WWE in August 2021 and appeared to be making significant progress. His brother, Gable, was released in May due to reported concerns about his performance as a professional wrestler.
It’s worth noting that Kemp’s departure was not part of a round of WWE cuts but rather stemmed from the non-renewal of his contract.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that Kemp’s release has sparked feelings of uncertainty among WWE NXT talent, particularly those whose contracts are coming up for renewal.
Unlike other recent cuts, such as Dijak, Gable, and Drew Gulak, Kemp was widely regarded as a skilled performer for his level of experience, and there were no negative remarks about his abilities.
The prevailing sentiment is that “except for those who are clearly being pushed as future stars, many others do have the deal of if they would cut him, who else would they cut.”
