More has come to light about AJ Styles’ WWE status and the reason he did not return to programming on this week’s episode of SmackDown.
In the run-up to the show, it was reported that Styles would be at the show, in what would’ve been his first WWE TV appearance since June.
Pwinsider is reporting that Styles was not in attendance at Tulsa’s BOX Center but is expected to return to WWE TV before Bash in Berlin on August 31.
The reason for AJ Styles’ absence was that the company had already finalized creative plans and decided it wasn’t the right time to bring him back. A segment with Nia Jax was also pushed to next week’s show.
While not on WWE TV, Styles did compete at NOAH’s Destination event last month as well as during WWE’s recent live event tour of Japan.
