Report – WWE Yet To Finalize Goldberg vs. GUNTHER Match

Bill Goldberg recently confirmed that he will have a retirement match next year, and fans have been speculating when WWE will announce his farewell match.

At WWE Bad Blood 2024, tensions escalated when WWE World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER badmouthed Goldberg, who was seated in the audience with his family.

GUNTHER taunted the WWE Hall of Famer, labeling him a “one-trick pony” to provoke a reaction. Although Goldberg jumped over the barricade, security intervened to prevent him from entering the ring.

After he declared that his retirement match would take place in 2025, Goldberg made headlines yesterday, prompting speculation about who his opponent might be.

On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer shared an update about the status of Goldberg vs. GUNTHER.

Meltzer confirmed that the match will certainly take place, but it may not happen in the immediate future because it’s believed Goldberg will need time to prepare.

He mentioned that the situation leading to the confrontation was not originally planned for WrestleMania 41. However, given the time frame, it’s possible that WWE has yet to decide when the match will occur.

Meltzer said, “I know when they shot the angle, I was told it wasn’t going to be at Mania but those things, that many months in advance, that may not have had it locked down when they will do it.”

We’ll have to wait and see when Goldberg and GUNTHER will compete against each other.
