Add another WWE Superstar to the mix for the 2025 Royal Rumble match as Rey Mysterio declared himself to be entering this year’s gauntlet.
The GMOAT opened this week’s episode of SmackDown in San Diego with a promo reminding the audience of his 2006 win, wherein he entered at #2 and went the distance to also win the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 22. He admitted that the field for this year proves to be heavy competition (given the lineup so far is Jey Uso, John Cena, CM Punk, Roman Reigns, Drew McIntyre, LA Knight and Seth Rollins)
He was interrupted by Kevin Owens, who is rooting for Rey so they can fight at WrestleMania 41, as he still considers himself the rightful WWE Champion after Saturday Night’s Main Event. Mysterio reminded him that Cody Rhodes is actually the real champion, which upset Owens enough for him to start a fight, leading to Mysterio requesting a match for later on.
