Shawn Michaels has justified having Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams headline WWE NXT Stand & Deliver 2024, over the NXT Championship match.
Hayes and Williams will close out next Saturday’s show instead of the title match between Ilja Dragunov and number-one contender Tony D’Angelo.
On a recent edition of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, Michaels explained why he feels the match between Hayes and Williams is the right main event. He said,
“They have been a joy, as Carmelo’s said many times. He and I hit it off right off the bat, And I’m telling you, after the last, you know, half a year, the year, the trick has been on the rise, since he walked into my office and said, you know, I want my, I want to give it a shot I want to get my shot. And he’s just one of the hardest workers I do.
“I dearly love both those two young men with all my heart. They have been fantastic. They’re a joy to the coaches and not just me, to everybody in NXT at the Performance Center. And obviously, have earned this spot at WrestleMania at Stand and Deliver as the main event.
“This is the deepest, most passionate, most intriguing storyline in NXT. And I would argue in NXT history, and this is so deserving of the main event. And these two guys, I don’t know, earned it every step of the way. And I’m happy that they’re getting this opportunity.”
WWE NXT Stand & Deliver will take place on April 6, mere hours ahead of WWE WrestleMania 40 (Night One) that same night.
