Sheamus’ chase to become Intercontinental Champion has been part of the Irishman’s wrestling journey for longer than he’s been in WWE.
The Intercontinental title is the only championship stopping Sheamus from completing the Grand Slam as well as the WWE Triple Crown.
On a recent edition of the “Insight” podcast, Sheamus explained how long he’s been keeping an eye on the Intercontinental Title. He said,
“The irony is that it’s the first title I really became focused on because Macho Man was in a feud with Steamboat over it. So when I started watching Macho Man was the first IC champion.
“So the one title that I was exposed to as a fan is the one I can’t win, which has become this kind of crusade. But it’s definitely an IC curse for me.”
Sheamus competed for the title at WWE Clash At The Castle 2022 against GUNTHER in a match that earned critical acclaim from fans.
The Irish Superstar’s most recent title match came at Survivor Series: WarGames 2024 where Bron Breakker retained against Sheamus and Ludwig Kaiser.
