LA Knight held an open challenge for his WWE United States Championship on this week’s episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown, wherein he was victorious over Humberto Carrillo of Legado Del Fantasma.
Knight wasn’t able to celebrate that win for long, though, as he was almost immediately attacked in a blindside from a returning Shinsuke Nakamura, complete with a more demented look than ever before.
This is seemingly a feud WWE has been setting up for quite a while, as Knight and Nakamura have fought on the live event circuit for many months. Recent house shows in the United Kingdom have seen Knight retaining his title over Nakamura throughout October, and the Road to Bash in Berlin tour in August featured many Fatal 4-Way bouts with Knight defeating Nakamura, Ilja Dragunov, Ludwig Kaiser and/or Sheamus.
Nakamura hasn’t wrestled on screen since losing to Sheamus on the April 22nd edition of Monday Night RAW.
